The Adoration of the Magi oil painting by famous Italian renaissance artist, Raphael. Many of Raphael's paintings are found in the Apostolic Palace of The Vatican, where the frescoed Raphael Rooms were the central, and the largest, work of his career.
He was extremely influential in his lifetime, though outside Rome his work was mostly known from his collaborative printmaking. Sadly, Raphael died at the age of 37 which allowed Da VInci & Michelangelo to become more famos.
Raphael was highly admired by his contemporaries, although his influence on artistic style in his own century was less than that of Michelangelo. He was still seen by 20th century critics like Bernard Berenson as the "most famous and most loved" master of the High Renaissance, but now others ave taken this place some what.
