One of Repin's best known paintings is the intensive and memorable Ivan the Terrible and his Son. The contrast between the anger and destruction of father Ian and the calmness and subtlety of his son helped make this one of his very best and most explosive paintings.

Ilya Repin's most complex painting, Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks to Sultan Mehmed IV of the Ottoman Empire took an extraordinary 20 years to complete and was a real labour of love for it's artist who would regularly revisit it with a new take. Repin's aim was to portray feelings of liberty, equality, and fraternity and also draw attention to Ukrainian Cossack republicanism.

At the height of his career Repin captured many famous Russian celebrities including the novelist Leo Tolstoy, the scientist Dmitri Mendeleev, the imperial official Pobedonostsev, the composer Mussorgsky, the philanthropist Pavel Tretyakov, and the Ukrainian poet and painter, Taras Shevchenko. Repin portraits would always offer a complex view of their character and aim to maintain the artist's integrity rather than serve as simply an advertising tool for each individual. His painting of the ceremonial session of the State Council of Imperial Russia remains his highest profile commission, coming from the Russian government.

Our paintings are handmade by highly experienced and skilled artists who produce paintings to a very high quality, as shown in the amount of happy customers that we have.
